Short Circuit: An Enamel Pin Collection

Hey robot enthusiasts,

Thanks again for an amazing campaign!! We blew past the 16k mark in the final hours and I am still in awe of the love you showed these little buddies.

A few things are still receiving updates, but for anyone who missed out entirely during the Short Circuit campaign, the pre-order store for late pledges is live!



Reminder that to avoid getting charged shipping twice, existing backers should NOT use the pre-order store. It's for anyone who missed the initial funding period! If you want more pins and stickers than you added to your order during the campaign proper, you'll be able to do so in the add-ons section of your backer survey.

I'm putting the finishing touches on the survey setup over the course of this week. Once complete, Backerkit has to review it before I can do a smoke test and then ultimately get them sent out, so that'll be a little while yet, but likely in the last week of February (next week).

Once I receive the campaign funds from Backerkit, I'll get payment sent to my pin manufacturer to sample the remainder of our unlocked bot-board designs. Currently 301 of you are recorded as charged successfully, and 21 have failed. If you're in that second category, don't panic, your order is not cancelled! If you correct or re-enter your card information, Backerkit will attempt to charge you again. For additional information on correcting your payment method, check out this help article.

On the topic of production, my sticker manu has offered an alternate easy-peel solution for the large vinyl stickers, an extra border around each design in place of the tabs, and kindly provided me with a sample photo of the concept. The tabs would occasionally break off, so this solution is a much more durable way to achieve the same effect.



The robot sticker sheets for Python, Malware, and Mozzy are in progress, and I'll be sharing them here in the Community updates as I complete each and update their corresponding images in the store.

Speaking of design development - I have an exciting announcement to share. There's a tiger design in the works, sponsored by backer Adrian through the Commission a Unit tier!!



For other campaign backers, this design will be included with the in All In++ tier and also available to select in your survey. For those pledging late via the store, you can grab them individually there as well! The final design is subject to change, and we're still pondering their name - LAN and RAID are potential contenders.

Welcome to the FINAL 3 HOURS of Pintopia!! It's been a wild few weeks, and I'm so grateful you joined me for the adventure.

First up: we hit the threshold to call Incubate and so we have DONE IT, ALL SHORT CIRCUIT DESIGNS ARE OFFICIALLY UNLOCKED as both pins and stickers! 🎉🤖💚

This brings our funded total to an incredible 17 pin designs (18 including the cross-collab freebie you get for also backing Bunnies & Branchs), 17 jumbo selective holographic stickers, and 6 robot character art sticker sheets.



If you're wondering what comes next, here's what you can expect:

» When the campaign ends, Backerkit will try to collect funds from your cards. If your pledge fails for any reason - don't panic! You have 14 days to correct the issue.

» I'm working on getting the backend set up in pledge manager, so the pre-order store should go live in few days. I'll holler about it when the time comes. To avoid paying shipping twice, it's advised to wait for your backer surveys if you wish to add more add-ons to your pledge. The pre-order store is intended for late backers and folks who missed out during the initial funding period!

» In about two weeks, Backerkit will have fully processed your pledges, so I will receive funds and place the order for all the remaining pin samples. Your backer surveys will be sent out around this timeframe as well, possibly sooner! At this point, existing backers can choose which designs they want to claim and add more onto their pledges if desired. ✨

Finally: the closing act! I rang in Pintopia with a stream, so I'd love to also ring it out with a stream. I'll be going live at 8 PM CET (11 AM PST, 2 PM EST) and joined variously by fellow Pintopians Kage Davies, Aimee Cozza, and Arivelle's Forest!

Zapping in with a small update to alert you that we have entered the final 24 hours of the campaign (20 to be precise)!

There will be a pre-order store available during the sampling and backer survey period after Pintopia has concluded, but this last day is the final chance to grab combo deals on multiple designs from the pledge level offerings. Now's your opportunity to double check that you've got all the bot-boards you were interested in covered!

Speaking of deals - as some of you have discovered, I've gone ahead and added the Air Holo Sticker Pack to the Add-On section  —



Since we're advancing on our final goal, I've decided to half-unlock Incubate early: the selective holographic sticker will for sure be manufactured. If we can get even closer by the campaign's end, we can fund the pin as well. Survey add-ons and pre-orders from late backers will also count towards its unlock, so if we make it past 14.5k, I'll call it (that's €310 more needed at the time of writing this)!!

We did also handily surpass the 300 backer goal, so the sticker sheets for both Malware and Mozzy are also unlocked for a total of 6 robot character art workups! The All In++ and Sticker Fiend pledge levels will automatically have these new sticker sheets added to their rewards. They are also available as add-on selections!

I've been out of the house for a few days helping family, but I'm back home and ready for us to charge the finish line! 💪🤖

As of a couple days ago Jump was officially UNLOCKED - you all are crushing it, thank you!! The main story page has been updated to reflect this.



That of course makes Incubate (the feather) our current goal! I'm really looking forward to the possibility of having all 4 "elemental" designs of the Unit Lines made, they look so dang good together.



In our quest to do so -- a couple more orders of business.

First off, my manufacturer has returned from their holiday break and got back to me about some of my metal plating questions. It seems antique gold isn't available with hard enamel, and it's important to me that we keep the same hard enamel finish across all of the board colors on our bot designs. With that in mind, the Air Unit line will feature brass plating!

The bright gold appearance of brass will be a perfect fit for the circuits, and the clear enamel overlay of the recessed metal portions will be a pantone calibrated to achieve the same dark gold appearance of those areas as in the mockups. I'm very pleased with this approach! Reminder that I won't lock backer surveys down until all the pins have been sampled, so you'll be able to see the real deal of each design before making your final selections.

Second, I've included yet another sticker pack tier in the Add-On section. This is a variety pack for those who want a chunk of the selective holographic stickers and some of the robot character art sheets as well! Find it here.

And speaking of the robot sheets --



Mozzy and Malware have been tied on and off for so much the poll that I think I'm going to call it a dual victory! This means BOTH of them are going to receive character art workups that will be available as sticker sheets if we reach 300 backers!

As with the pins, you'll be able to see the finished artwork for the sheets before backer surveys lock. I already have a story in mind for Malware that I'm really excited about, but I'm still brainstorming for Mozzy - help me pick a direction! Fresh poll at the end of this post. c:
